At least Oasis comparing themselves to the Beatles was funny, but Ezra Koenig
frontman for Vampire Weekend was not funny and frankly sounded retarded. The signer said that he is a fan of Dappy and N-Dubz, and compared the pop band to The Beatles. Whaaaa1!@#%@^
Koenig told
Esquire that he had been struck by one of the trio's videos and thought that
they reminded him of the early days of The Beatles or The Monkees. He did,
however, admit that he needed to look into their music more to fully grasp what
they did. "I saw N-Dubz on TV last night," he said. "They struck
me as very self-aware and funny, at least the main guy. They really held their
own. They got it. I didn't know what to make of the song they played, but when
they were messing around.. It was almost like some Monkees or early Beatles
kind of vibe." He added: "I should probably research them more." Hmmm, YES you should you dingbat!
