Last summer, NME confirmed that The Strokes were working on the follow-up to 2011's 'Angles'. Reports that the band had been working on new material at the famous Electric Lady Studios in their home city of New York were quickly denied by their management and record label.

TRENT REZNOR'S NEW VIDEOS ARE CREEPY AS HELL!

I saw this article on NPR and had to share it with you all...

The members of How To Destroy Angels, a collective featuring Nine Inch Nails frontman Trent Reznor, his wife and singer Mariqueen Maandig, art director Rob Sheridan and the brilliant composer Atticus Ross, have an unambiguously grim view of where civilization is headed. In a new video for the song "How Long," from the band's upcoming album Welcome Oblivion, man hunts man in a terrifying, dystopian future.

The video was created and directed by the London-based visual arts collective Shynola. While there are only three characters in the short film, it speaks volumes about our reptilian instincts for survival.

In a joint email, the members of Shynola say they "had a great conversation where the band articulated their ideas about modern identity, the effect of technology on culture and our inability to connect with others. We're fascinated by anthropology and coincidentally we had been toying with ideas for a feature film about a post-technology civilization, in which humans have reverted to primitive behavior. Sometimes things just fit together."

'DRIVE' DIRECTOR REVIVES THE SEXY 'BARBARELLA'

Skyfall screenwriters Neal Purvis and Robert Wade are to script a new TV show based on iconic comic book character Barbarella.

This is so exciting! I mean, It could be horrendous, but with the amazing creative man-power supporting this project it could also be amazing!

The sci-fi heroine became popular in a series of comic books created by Jean-Claude Forest. Barbarella was played by Jane Fonda in a 1968 film of the same name.

Plans for a Barbarella TV series were first unveiled last June (2012). Nicolas Winding Refn, the filmmaker behind Drive will both executive produce and direct.

Refn said in a statement: "I'm extremely excited that Neal and Robert have signed on to develop and write Barbarella with me. I'm certain that the combination of our creative forces will produce a show that is as enthralling as it is sexy."

CHRIS BROWN'S FIST FIGHT WITH FRANK OCEAN

Frank Ocean has been confirmed to perform at next weekend's Grammy Awards even after he got the crap beat out of him by the piece of shit that is Chris Brown.

The singer will appear at the event at Los Angeles' Staples Center on February 10. The Odd Future associate formerly hinted that he was playing the high-profile event, tweeting after the brawl with Brown over the weekend:

"Got jumped by Chris and a couple guys. Lol. I only wish [Ocean's dog] Everest was there... Cut my finger now I can't play with two hands at the Grammys."

Frank Ocean intends to press charges against Chris Brown following their fight at a LA recording studio, says a local sheriff.

After he does I REALLY hope the woman-beater gets sen of to jail where he belongs. Really boils my blood that a complete dickhead like him can get away with so much

The pair got into an argument about a parking space at the studio on Sunday (January 27). Sheriff's deputies showed up after Brown punched Ocean during the altercation. Brown is serving five years' probation for assaulting Rihanna in 2009. Unfortunately, dumb dumb Rihanna recently announced the pair are an item again.

E-FING YEAH! MGMT NEW ALBUM!

We can officially get excited about MGMT’s next album. I mean their last one, Congratulations, came out three years ago and was less than impressive.

One song was super rad but the rest of it was all over the place and just bored me to death.
They had great collaborators like Flaming Lips and all, but it sounded like too many hands handling drowned their unique sound.

“People thought we took too many drugs, which was not the case at all,” insists Goldwasser, taking a seat on a studio couch. Adds VanWyngarden, “We were less naive after Congratulations.”

Hopefully this time around they DID do too many drugs and the outcome is one awesome album. Learn from your mistakes dudes!

According to the article on Rolling Stone, MGMT are getting even weirder on their follow-up, tentatively due out in June.

Instead of using their live band, as they did on Congratulations, the core duo recorded alone, cherry-picking the best parts of their free-form jams to construct tracks that reflect the Aphex Twin and house records they’ve been listening to lately. Says Goldwasser, “We’re not trying to make music that everyone understands the first time they hear it.”

That sounds vague, but intriguing, I’ll deffo give it a listen.
