CARL BARAT RECRUITS JOHNNY MARR AND ANDY BURROWS FOR NEW PROJECT

Carl Barat has recruited Johnny Marr and former Razorlight drummer Andy Burrows and a few others to play on his second solo album.

The Libertines man recently revealed to NME, which is  available digitally, that the new record will be more guitar-based than his 2010 self-titled solo debut, which was piano-led.

Former Smiths legend Marr plays on one song demo, singer-songwriter Ed Harcourt plays piano, while Burrows has helped Barat out with some songwriting duties. Also helping with writing are Dan Miller, singer with London newcomers Eyes On Film – with whom Barat has been playing guitar recently – and Benjamin Biolay, the French actor/singer.

Biolay and Barat met when they both
appeared in Pop’pea, the musical that ran in Paris last summer.

The singer and guitarist hopes to have the album out in the second half of 2013 and is yet to decide on a producer for it. To read an interview with Barat pick up a copy of this week’s NME, which is on newsstands or available digitally
