Guillermo del Toro, the filmmaking bad ass, is back with a
new movie! A new trailer for eagerly-anticipated monster movie Pacific Rim has just
been released.
The new teaser was first shown at the WonderCon sci-fi
convention in San Francisco in March. "This was originally intended for
only WonderCon," del Toro writes on the trailer's YouTube page. "But
after listening to so many of you asking for more of the movie online, I think
it's time for me to show you more footage. Enjoy, my friends!"
Pacific Rim is the first film directed by del Toro since
2008's Hellboy 2: The Golden Army. The Mexican filmmaker's previous directorial
efforts include Pan's Labyrinth and Blade II.
Del Toro has called Pacific Rim "a beautiful poem to
giant monsters" inspired by classic Japanese monster movies like Godzilla.
The film is set in the not-too-distant future and centres on a battle between
giant robots operated by human soldiers and an incredibly powerful race of
monsters that have emerged mysteriously from the ocean.
This is going to be so good!
