NOT DRUGS< NOT WIND NOR FIRE WILL STOP THE LIPS! One of the many things I loe about the Flaming Lps is their albility and willingness to be candid with their fans and with the press. They are afraid of nothing and always manage turn every negative situation into a positive magical outcome. this is why they rule!!  Speaking about devastating and difficult situations, The Flaming Lips recently spoke out about their forthcoming new album, which has the working title 'The Terror'.
Talking to Rolling Stone, frontman Wayne Coyne revealed the somewhat bleak circumstances in which the record was conceived.

Coyne relates that the album began while Steven Drozd of the band was in the middle of a hard-core drug addiction, from which he has now recovered. Coyne says: "It was probably the worst time of his life. I knew he was really, really struggling. He was in a bad way."  In a bad way meaning he looked like John Fuaciante of the Chli Peppers when he fell off and looked like Smeagol of  the film 'Lord of The Rings'.

Coyne explains that Drozd holed himself up in a different studio to the rest of the band to work on his own "horribly creepy" tracks. Coyne adds: "He did this one piece of music and did lyrics, all these things. Not all the pieces were audible, but he had these things saying 'you are alone,' and then the other voice saying, 'I am not alone.' Back and forth between some horrible internal dialogue. It was truly devastating."

Many of the melodies which Drozd wrote will make up the album, which is set for an autumn release.
The Flaming Lips recently released a collaborative album, titled 'The Flaming Lips And Heady Fwends', which brought together an eclectic group of artists including Bon Iver, Nick Cave, My Morning Jacket and Yoko Ono.

The Lips have also confirmed full details of the musical which is based around their 2002 album
'Yoshimi Battles The Pink Robots'.  Hellto the yeah! You know we're going to be checking that out!
The production, which has been directed and put together by Des McAnuff, will run from November 6 to December 16 at the La Jolla Playhouse in San Diego, California. Lets do this!
