Deftones have paid tribute to the
late Chris Kelly by covering Kris Kross's 1992 hit single 'Jump'.
The band performed a cover of the
song at their show last night (May 1) in St Louis, mashing it up with their own
track 'Engine No 9'.
"We got word that a member of
Kris Kross has passed," said frontman Chino Moreno before launching into
the song.
Kelly - of 1990s rap duo Kris Kross
- was found "unresponsive" at his home in Atlanta on yesterday (May
1) and was transported to Atlanta Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.
It is being reported that 34-year-old Kelly allegedly took a mixture of heroin and cocaine on the
night before his death.
The rapper's mother, Donna Kelly
Pratt, apparently told police that her son had taken a 'speedball'.
Kris Kross – who were famous for
wearing their clothes backwards – was made up of Kelly, aka 'Mac Daddy', and
Chris 'Daddy Mac' Smith. The duo achieved fame with their 1992 album
'Totally Krossed Out'.
R.I.P. Chris Kelly
