SLY STONE IS HOMELESS BY CHOICE!! REALLY, HE INSISTS

If Sly Stone is homeless, it's by choice and not necessity, according to sources close to the funk legend.
Stone's attorney Robert Alan has supposedly rented a four-bedroom home in Woodland Hills for his client, one unnamed source told Showbiz411 exclusively. "He's too paranoid to come inside," another source told writer Roger Friedman. That person was described as a friend of the singer.
Alan wouldn't comment on the rental house, Friedman said. Documentary director Willem Alkema co-wrote Sunday's "Sly Stone Is Homeless and Living in a Van" article for the New York Post.
That's not to say Stone hadn't admitted struggling with drugs, nor that he isn't in financial trouble of the maybe-a-$50-million-lawsuit-will-fix-it variety -- he sued former manager Jerry Goldstein in early 2010, alleging fraud and the diversion of $20 million to $30 million in royalties. Goldstein, who took the name War from that band in a legal battle in 1997, countersued Stone a few months later, alleging the singer had slandered him onstage at the Coachella festival.
Four of the original War members, who regrouped as the Lowrider Band, are pursuing a $10-million lawsuit against Goldstein over allegedly unpaid royalties.
[For the Record, 9:10 a.m. Sept. 29: This post originally said attorney Alan had confirmed to Friedman that Stone had been paid by Alkema for the interview. No such payment occurred, Alkema told the Ministry on Thursday. The Showbiz411 article has since been revised, with references to payments deleted. A reference to Friedman saying in the original Showbiz411 article that the filmmaker was seeking a re-release of the documentary and would benefit from publicity has been removed from this post as well. Alkema said via email that he is not seeking a re-release of his film in the U.S., where it has not been screened beyond film festivals. "If there is a re-release it needs a happy ending," Alkema wrote. "Sly will make it if he tries."]

LITTLE MADONNA AND KELLEY OSBOURNE CELEBRATE MATERIAL GIRL

She definitely is her mother’s daughter. Celebrating the 1-year anniversary of the Material Girl collection, Lourdes Leon took centerstage at Macy’s along with Kelly Osbourne. The duo went for diametrically different looks. Lourdes — only 14 but somehow pulled off — red lips, a printed yellow mini dress and high heels. Kelly went hipster chic in matte hot lipstick with glasses and a leather jacket and tight skirt combination. There was a little fashion show as well as a part and Kelly and Lourdes both walked the pink runway. How is this girl so self-composed being so young? We’re so starting an L.L fan club!

BLOODY SUNDAY IN ECHO PARK LAKE

What’s going on behind that construction fence around Echo Park Lake? Perhaps you don’t want to know based on what Thomas DeBoe saw – and smelled – on a morning walk today.  As DeBoe circled the fenced-off park, which  is closed while the lake is being drained,  the Echo Park resident caught glimpses of a mauled duck, dead fish and a gaggle of terrified geese apparently being stalked by a coyote across the muddy lake bottom.  There was also a stench to be contended with. Here’s Deboe’s account of his 10 a.m. walk:
The smell from the Park Avenue side of the lake is almost unbearable.  I could only stay there for a couple of minutes.  When I came back to this point on my return, I had to cover my nose and try to hold my breath until I completed my turn up Echo Park Avenue.  After walking a few steps up Echo Park Avenue I saw a wild looking coyote, with its head down, stalking through the mud toward the island.  On the opposite side of the island were domestic geese frantically marching to nowhere for an escape.  Further down Echo Park Avenue near Bellevue Avenue, in the reminding water and mud, were nearly a hundred dead fish.  This was my Sunday morning scenic walk around the lake.

SHOOTING OUTSIDE NEW SILVER LAKE VENUE

One person was shot in the leg early this morning as they were  leaving the newly remodeled Los Globos nightclub in Silver Lake, police said.  What's known at the moment is that “The victim was with a friend and they were just walking out from the club,” said Sgt. Michael Mabie with the Rampart Division.  No other details of the incident or a description of the gunman was available this morning.

THE WHO'S “TOMMY” IS COMING TO LOS ANGELES
!!!

Roger Daltrey the lead singer of THE WHO announces a  six-week North American tour, performing the band’s iconic 1969 rock operaTommy,” album in its entirety, from start to finish, for the first time. Employing the use of striking visuals to accompany the music, every show is an unforgettable concert experience for lifelong fans and newcomers alike. Classic’s from the Who’s repertoire will be performed throughout the American tour.

The trek kicked off in Hollywood, FL last week (9/13) and will arrive at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles on October 19.

DALTREY is backed by a stellar band: SIMON TOWNSHEND, younger brother of The Who’s guitarist PETE TOWNSHEND on guitar and vocals, Frank Simes (guitar and also music director/arranger), Scott Deavours (drums), Jon Button (bass) and Loren Gold (keyboards).

Of the new “Tommy” tour, DALTREY told the Boston Globe’s Sarah Rodman, “I can appreciate it much more. I’ve got no battle to win, so I can enjoy it. It always felt like there was a battle to be won when we used to play it in the early days. And that was great because we had the strength and the youth and the testosterone to win it every night. But now I can relax into it, and the music’s better for it in a way. It’s different, but it’s better.
He goes on to add,“I’ve never felt the narrative of ‘Tommy’ has ever been about one person.  For me, ‘Tommy’ has always been about all of us: you, me, and everyone else in the audience. It’s the spiritual journey that we all go through in life. The characters in it - Uncle Ernie and Cousin Kevin and the Acid Queen - they’re all part of the human condition, things that are thrown at us.

PHOTOGRAPHER JENNIE WARREN: BEYOND THE LENS

Originally from Long Beach, California, Jennie warren is an on-demand photographer, with a decade of experience shooting some of the most fascinating people and places Los Angeles has to offer.
She moved to L.A. in 2001, since then she has become an asset to the Angelino arts and culture community. Her versatility with the camera is evident but she excels in capturing ordinary moments and lacquering them with mysterious elegance. Warren can document life while pushing the limits of her imagination, giving creativity a new meaning and bringing it out through the medium of photography.
The following is an intimate look into the person behind the pictures.

Do you have any pseudo names? Jdub

Best of L.A.? I love that I can drive a few hours north to shoot in the mountains or an hour south and go to the beach. There's so much to explore in and around LA. I love little road trips and the culture and diversity.

Claim to fame? That's silly. I'm just a shy girl at heart and learned how to express myself by taking photos. I try to capture something special and maybe reveal something unknown about a person when photographing them. I've been told I have a gift for making people feel comfortable and am more comfortable shooting real people than models. I actually don’t know what to do with models, its sort of funny.  I love little quirks that people have, hand gestures, ironic situations and using color.

L.A. is a extremely diverse, where do you fit in? I relate with the music and art scene. I grew up in Long Beach and in high school started going to shows, playing in bands, hanging out with musicians and artists. I was very inspired by the people I was around and started taking photos. My first 'real' Band shoot circa 1998 was of my friends in a synth-punk band called Le Shok. They were assholes but fun to hangout with. I shot B&W 3200 film in their practice studio and still like the shots. Everything was so exciting and I think that time definitely formed who I am today.

Do you have a dream project, and how will you make it a reality? My dream would be to shoot a creative and funny Ad campaign for someone like BBDO. I also would love to get a photojournalistic assignment that would have me traveling and shooting.

What led you to photography? I think I've always had an eye for composition. As a child, I was very particular about the way things looked and liked to place items so they were visually pleasing. In high school I took my first photo class. I started shooting with a Canon AE-1 program and feel in love. I shot some still life but mostly people and my closest friends became my muses. Luckily I had really interesting friends that were into art, music and mayhem. After high school I went to Long Beach Community College and got into the photo department there and spent my evenings in the darkroom.  I couldn't get enough, I was obsessed.  At the same time, I was working at a photo lab and got to process and print customers images as well, so I was engulfed in photography. From there I attended Art Center College of Design and graduated in 2005 with my BFA and have been working freelance ever since.

What projects are you currently working on? I'm currently shooting a personal project on a counter-culture group that involves me traveling around the states, following them. My goal is to make a book and possible film about it. I will be making a kickstarter page soon to start the funding so I can finish the project.
Music: The Beatles.
Photographers: Guy Bourdin, Phillip Lorcia DiCorcia, Autumm de Wilde, Aaron Ruell, list goes on...

Guilty pleasure? I like watching episodes of Law & Order SVU, Criminal Intent, and eating a whole box of Kraft macaroni & cheese (not simultaneously)

“Music is art, art is music, music is life,” Jennnie Warren.
