T.I. DENIED PAROLE!

Well actually its the opposite. Get the patron back on ice, cause T.I. is back! And he’s jut in time for his new VH1 series. The platinum rapper was released from an Arkansas prison today and will serve out the final month of his 11-month sentence in a halfway house. They also say he will be out in time for his VH1 inew reality series, which that which follows him as he gets back on his feet and into the real world. The show this scheduled to premiere on December 5, 2011. 

JACK WHITE IN FEUD WITH INSANE CLOWN POSSE

I kid, I kid!! There's no beef between them. As a matter of fact  they just finished producing a very unusual single. Jack White‘s label Third Man Records announced a forthcoming 7-inch single titled ‘Leck Mich Im Arsch’ from none other than his buds the Insane Clown Posse. White produced the track himself, with a beat provided by gritt/goofy Nashville punk-pop duo JEFF the Brotherhood (whose 2011 album We Are The Champions opens with the sound of an airhorn, just ’cause) and interpolated from a Mozart canon in B-flat major also titled “Leck Mich Im Arsch” (though for many years it was mistitled “Laßt Froh Uns Sein”).

L.A. FAVES RED HOT CHILLI PEPPERS - 'I'M WITH YOU'

Change is a cruel mother, especially among legions of keen music fans. Mark a strong left turn in your musical arc and, nine times out of 10, your goose is cooked. With the release of I’m with You, the legendary Red Hot Chili Peppers are stoking the fires.

The discrepancy isn’t intrinsically drastic, mind you, but there’s an awful lot going on here. This, the band’s first recording since 2006’s Stadium Arcadium, is a layered, intricate, lyrically-dense album that is still instantly listenable and funky as all hell. But it’s a grower.

With the departure of guitarist John Frusciante in 2009, the Peppers said goodbye to their longest-standing line-up and hello to ambiguity. Like the Rolling Stones after Brian Jones, they faced a junction and a judgment. Was it time to hang up the socks for good? Or is the spirit too strong with these ones?

Enter new guitarist Josh Klinghoffer, a friend of Frusciante’s and a touring session musician of repute. His playing is expressive and refined, relying less on agitating riffs and more on filling in atmospheric spaces.

The Red Hot Chili Peppers would have us consider the band of I’m with You to be a “new band." In some ways, they are. But there is, without question, a lot of the standard Peppers’ stuff to work with. Flea’s bass playing is spirited and his contributions on piano add to the bigger picture, while vocalist Anthony Kiedis is as robust as ever. Chad Smith’s drums drive things as they should.

What stands at the core of I’m with You is a meditation on life and death. Themes of transience soak in, dwelling in the keystones of each of the 14 songs and bathing the hour-long album with a sense of insistence. Short of being a concept album, it’s not a stretch to say that this is, in fact, a “purpose album.”

TUPAC SHAKUR'S RAP GROUP SMOKED HIS ASHES!

Looks like Young Noble and EDI Mean pulled a  Keith Richards when they puffed on the star at his memorial

Members of the Outlawz, the hip-hop collective and group founded by the late Tupac Shakur, have confirmed that they smoked the rapper's ashes. In an interview with Vlad TV, Young Noble and EDI Mean revealed that they smoked the dead star’s ashes at a memorial event for the artist which was held on a beach. Tupac killed in Las Vegas in 1996 and it is said he requested that his ashes be smoked in the lyrics to his track ‘Black Jesus’.
When asked if they really inhaled the hip-hopper’s asshes, Young Noble said:

Yes, it's definitely true... Had a little memorial for him with his mum and his family. Some weed, some chicken wings, he loved orange soda... Pac loved that kind of shit.


EDI Mean then added that he came up with the plan to smoke the star’s ashes:

I came up with that shit. If you listen to 'Black Jesus', he said, 'Last wishes, niggas smoke my ashes'. That was a request that he had. Now, how serious he was about it? We took it serious.

So they pulled a Keith Richards, but the real news here is that

Forthcoming Tupac Shakur biopic Tupac is underway and they are looking for their star. Film chiefs invited potential lead actors to submit video auditions for the film, which will be directed by Antoine Fuqua.


"We're looking for someone with the right mix of raw charm and charisma for the role. At this point, we're more concerned about finding someone with the ability to give their entire heart into the performance than just looks and personality," says Producer David Robinson. 

American Idol turned indie superstar!

The bassist and singer of Bauhaus and Love & Rockets has created a live performance piece that includes live music, theatre, visuals and a wonderful story that blends mythology with classic Hollywood and the revolutionary essence of the 60s.

JARED LETO TRADES THE GUYLINER FOR A NEW ROLE?!

Is 30 Seconds To Mars kaput? Will frontman Jared Leto turn in the guyliner for a new film role?

The band has refused to confirm or deny any break-up rumors, but word has been spreading that the band will seize to exist after they finish touring their third album This Is War.

Speaking to Kerrang!, Leto made a comment that may signal the end of the outfit. 

He said: 
“A lot of artists peak or get burned out. A lot of times they stop trying and those are all dangers. It took two years to make ‘This Is War’. Touring it has been another two years. Do I have that in me again? I don’t know.”

What’s next for Leto? Could it be back to acting for the "Requiem For A Dream" star, or a future solo project?

The only thing the actor turned rockstar admitted was that he is “always writing new music.”

LOCAL CHAMPIONS ECC DEBUT NEW VIDEO AND HIT THE ROAD WITH GET UP KIDS!

It is a pleasure to announce that our local champions will debut their new video and join The Get Up Kids on tour!!

The Eastern Conference Champions have been doing pretty well this year. They are grown amassing fans all over and show no signs of stopping.

The local bouys will debut the video for “Bull In The Wild” (Directed by James Weir) on mxdwn.com beginning tomorrow morning on Tuesday August 30^th. All fans who visit the site can also download a free MP3 remix of the track.

This summer they will be touring Europe with none other than The Get Up Kids but will make sure to schedule some L.A, gigs to keep us going while they’re gone across the pond.

“We are pretty excited to join forces with The Get Up Kids,” commented lead singer Josh Ostrander.  “Crisscrossing through Germany with such a highly respected band should prove eye opening.  Octoberfest will never be the same.”

SPOON FEED THE FUN FUN FUN FEST 2011

If you love fun and you love Spoon, youre in for a treat cause the texas boys are back home and have just confirmed their performances at this year’s Fun Fun Fun Festival.

The festival, which takes place Nov. 4-6 in Austin TX, will be Spoon's only live performance of 2011 and its first U.S. show since 2010's Austin City Limits Music Festival.

Other headliners at FFF 2011 include Passion Pit, along with besties like Slayer and Public Enemy.

This year marks Fun Fun Fest's first move from the 5000 capacity Waterloo Park to the 20,000 capacity Auditorium Shores. Which means its this baby festival is now a full-blown blast!!!! 

A full schedule detailing exact dates and times of performances will be announced within the next few weeks.

BRIT POP'S BAD BOY IS BACK!!!

Everyone knows that the older Gallagher brother, Noel, was the genius behind the Oasis debut album Definitely Maybe (1994), and well as their follow up (What's the Story) Morning Glory? (1995). 

Now the songwriter, guitarist and producer is ready to bask in the music limelight once again, this time with his first solo effort titled after his current band, High Flying Birds.

The album, set for a November 8 release on Sour Mash/Mercury Records, is a gem on its own, filled with the classic melancholy and in your face swagger the Gallagher brothers are known for. The video for The Death Of You And Me was recently revealed, and its safe to say that Noel Gallagher is one of those artists whose wizardry with words is a gift few possess.  

Noel and his High Flying Birds will tour this autumn in support of the album, dates to be announced in the months ahead. Noel has stated that during the tour we can expect to hear Oasis classics as well as the new material. "I'm proud of them and of what they mean to people," he said of the Oasis repertoire. "I'll never do a gig without playing them. They're like drugs to me."

Gallagher’s new work was recorded in London and completed in our very own, Los Angeles, during 2010 and the first half f 2011.
